Drving with handphones

Why are Malaysians still doing this? I remember some years back, a bunch of ministers were sent to Europe to study the effects of driving while on the phone. This despite numerous articles stating that driving will talking on the phone was not OK.

What happened to the findings? Did the ministers go for a holiday? And still now, no enforcement when it is common knowledge many drivers die on the roads as a result of talking on the phones and not paying attention?

What's so hard about turning on the indicator?

Why do people still like to switch lanes or turn without giving their indicator? I hate that, don't you? Too many people switch lanes on a highway without giving their indicator. This results in near misses and could easily kill a motorcyclist if he is going in between the 2 cars.

Rear seat belts

The Malaysian Government is trying to enforce the rear seat belts rule. This is a good move but can they succeed? Just look at how many drivers now who don't even wear the front seat belts. Every 100 cars you observe, you can see about 60 to 70 who don't even bother putting on their seat belts, both drivers and front seat passengers.

If a person wears his seat belt because he is afraid of being caught, then he will find every chance not to wear them. But if a person wears due to safety reasons, he will ALWAYS wear his seat belt. So the motive of wearing must be established. One should never feel that not to wear his seat belt will result in a fine. He should be educated that not to wear his seat belt means his life is always in danger on the roads.

Double line

Malaysians are very famous for treating the double lines in the middle of the road as if nothing is there. Why? Because they can get away with it. No policemen around ... most of the time. Even if there are cops around, they won't do a thing. Too much work to fill in reports.

So they just cross over to the other side crossing a double line and pose a danger to oncoming vehicles with nary a thought for others. Also when the government puts the plastic poles to prevent people from crossing, these drivers break the poles and just drive through them.

Parking woes

Why oh why don't Malaysians learn to park properly? They park on yellow lines and just about anywhere as long as it is close to where they want to go. Also because they are too cheap to pay for parking.
